Jeep's annual sales are booming, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has recently confirmed intentions to spend $1.05 billion dollars on Jeep manufacturing plants and the workers it takes to run them. New construction will take place in Belvedere, Illinois, and Toledo, Ohio. New Jeep Cherokee production will move from Toledo to Belvidere over the next 18 months. The Jeep Compass and Patriot being built at the Belvidere, Illinois plant will see the end of their production this year. The Compass and Patriot will be replaced by one new model that is expected to make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

The announcement came shortly after FCA's introduction of plans to grow its Toledo facility, hiring an additional 700 employees for production of the revamped 2017 Jeep Wrangler and the all-new Wrangler pickup truck.
