Last week, Dodge brand announced a new approach for its popular Dart lineup. In an effort to better appeal to both the driving enthusiast and the value conscious, Dodge has trimmed lineup to three distinct models.

The entry level Dart SXT Sport finds its motivation in a 2.0-liter Tigershark MultiAir2 engine which is mated to a six-speed manual or an available Powertech six-speed automatic transmission. MSRP starts at just $17,995.

Built with the enthusiast in mind, the Dart Turbo sports a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine. It is only available with a six-speed manual transmission and is intended for those who want to drive their car, not simply steer it. MSRP: $19,495

The Dart GT Sport is available with either a standard or automatic transmission, paired with a 2.4-liter 184-horsepower Tigershark four-cylinder engine. It features a number of premium standard features, and costs $1,100 less than the model it replaces. MSRP begins at $20,995.

“We are repositioning the Dart lineup to better align production and dealer inventory with consumer demand and preference,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “The simplification of Dart models, coupled with the availability of popular Rallye, Blacktop and Chrome appearance packages across more of the line-up, makes it easier for dealers to order and stock vehicles that customers are looking for.”
